Monaco Pavilion, Expo 2020

Monaco at the Expo 2020 in Dubai - a holistic experience. The Monegasque Expo Pavilion is reminiscent of the rock on which the old town of Monte Carlos and the Prince's Palace are enthroned. Commissioned by Facts & Fiction, NUSSLI Adunic is implementing the country's appearance titles "Monaco 360° - a World of Opportunites", which presents the many facets of the Mediterranean state.

The pavilion with its many polygons creates surprising points of view and changing perspectives. As a kind of kaleidoscope, the country exhibit reflects the familiar and the unknown about Monaco: culture, history, discoveries, science, values, people and traditions. Positioned in the "Opportunity" topical area of Expo 2020 in Dubai, the small country will fascinate with a great visitor experience on an area of almost 1500 square meters. In addition, the pavilion will make a clear statement about sustainability and environmental protection: To a large extent, it will produce its own power using photovoltaics modules. And the construction is designed in such a way that a large part of the materials used can be recycled.

Concept and implementation

The German agency "facts and fiction", which specializes in exhibition design and scenography is responsible for the concept, design, construction and maintenance of the Monaco Pavilion. NUSSLI Adunic is building the two-storey polygonal building with an exhibit, souvenir shop and restaurant on behalf of facts and fiction. This process includes the supporting structure, the facade, the building technology and the entire interior fittings, including the exhibition and functional areas. The pavilion's architecture was designed by OOS (Zurich) in collaboration with AODA (Monaco).

Smells, culture and atmosphere of the Mediterranean Sea

Two different exhibition worlds invite visitors to discover and experience Monaco. The unmistakable Mediterranean scents of pine, sea and sun welcome you as soon as you enter the "Garden of Possibilities". The exhibition's lighting also picks up on the warm feeling of the Mediterranean and changes accordingly over the course of the day. Here you can experience Monaco's projects and pioneering achievements in art, culture, science, research, medicine, biodiversity and technology in an interactive way. The second exhibition is devoted to the identity of the principality. It is the highlight of the pavilion and a fascinating 360-degree experience that immerses you in Monaco's history, culture and values. In addition, a multifunctional room on the first floor offers the possibility of holding events, conferences and meetings.

About Expo 2020

Due to the corona pandemic, Expo 2020 Dubai took place one year later. Under the motto "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future," the Expo gates were open in Dubai from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. It was the first World Expo to be held in an Arab and Muslim country. More than 190 countries and organizations presented themselves on the three thematic clusters Opportunities, Sustainability and Mobility, which together had the size of 610 football fields. Almost 25 million visitors, mostly from abroad, were at the Expo in Dubai.
