Andermatt Concert Hall

At 1400 metres above sea level, an unusual concert hall was built after a total construction period of around two years. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it offers up to 650 seats and a stage for a 75-person orchestra. Commissioned by Lindner AG, NUSSLI was responsible for the interior design of this modern complex.

Up to 74 people worked simultaneously on the construction site to complete the complete interior in the short assembly time. The challenges that the team had to overcome throughout the entire construction phase included the constant coordination with the other trades, the logistics in the difficult weather and the cumbersome construction site access conditions. The access for trucks was interrupted for a few days due to the amount of snow, for example, and only the underground car park could be used to access the construction site.

On June 16th, 2019 a special concert of the Berliner Philharmoniker with conductor Constantinos Carydis inaugurated the new concert hall in Andermatt. The concert hall was built by Andermatt Swiss Alps and BESIX (Belgium) according to plans by the renowned London Studio Seilern Architects under the direction of Christina Seilern.
