The largest temporary stadium in the world and still too small for the ticket demand was the festival arena that NUSSLI was allowed to design and build for this year's Swiss Federal Wrestling and Alpine Festival Pratteln in the Basel region - for 50,900 spectators and two days of festival operations.
The major national event does not always take place at the same location, but moves on every three years. And its arena moves with it. NUSSLI therefore works with construction elements that can be reused several times, which makes it possible to respond flexibly to the conditions on site during construction. Many of the elements installed are therefore used again and again and have often been installed in the large festival arena at previous "Eidgenössischen" and also in other projects before and after the Swiss Wrestling Festival.
In Pratteln, a total of 300,000 individual parts were assembled in just nine weeks by the NUSSLI team and up to 100 helpers from the army and civil defense. The assembly was made more difficult by obstacles such as a high-voltage power line, a busy railroad line and the historically protected military infrastructure in the immediate vicinity.
