From August 11 to 21, 2022, Munich was transformed into a huge sports stadium, a great festival with almost 5,000 athletes. The program included marathon, walking and cycling around Odeonsplatz. The track and field competitions took place in the Olympic Park, the track cycling in the exhibition hall. Climbing took place on Königsplatz. Beach volleyball was also played there. Canoe racing and rowing competitions were held at the Olympic regatta facility. All locations had the best conditions for athletes and spectators.
A special experience for both the audience and the athletes
The NUSSLI team from Germany created the conditions for this with intelligently planned stages and grandstands, which guaranteed the best view and a great live experience, also for the spectators at home in front of the television. In addition, huge LED walls brought the audience very close to the competitions. For the media, the event construction specialists set up optimally positioned camera and commentator platforms. The athletes also benefited from the temporary solutions that made it possible to bring a major event like the European Championships to the city center. The proximity to the public and the unusual locations were also something very special for them.
Temporary structures bring major events to the city center
As diverse as NUSSLI's buildings are, what they have in common is the concept of temporary structures. The system material used is used again and again and is completely dismantled after the event. In this way, complex infrastructures can be realized even in special, historical or inhabited settings - and on a large scale, economically and sustainably.
