European Athletics Championships in the Heart of the City

The European Athletics Championships Berlin 2018 will not just be taking place in the Olympic Stadium. A "European Mile" around the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church will serve as a temporary extension to the Olympic Stadium. As a turnkey solutions provider, NUSSLI supplied all the structures for the European Mile at Breitscheidplatz from a single source.

The Generali Arena is part of the European Mile and consists of three grandstands as well a central stage for the award ceremonies, live performances and broadcasts from the Olympic Stadium. In this manner, sports and entertainment are combined to create a grand celebration packed with emotion. Apart from the grandstands, the NUSSLI team also built the stage, multiple staircases, platforms, entrance portals, and bridges, among others. All the structures had to be built to fit into tight spaces and some even across roads.

The track and field events shot put (men's qualifying), marathon, and walking will be taking place on and around Breitscheidplatz. The European Athletics Championships will be held from August 6 – 12 in Berlin.
