20th Anniversary of German Reunification

On Sunday, October 3, 2010, Germany celebrated the 20th anniversary of its reunification.

October 2010

For this 20th anniversary, Germany held numerous festivities. Helmut Kohl and Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the public figures who set the reunification in motion, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and German President Christian Wulff, commemorated the Day of German Unity at the Reichstag Building in Berlin. An artistic program provided the background for the event.
In order to avoid obscuring the ambience of the Reichstag Building, NUSSLI was commissioned by Neumann&Müller Event Technology to build a transparent dome stage. In spite of being more than 20 x 16 meter in size, the lightness and architecture of the dome stage was impressive, because due to its transparent design, the stage lost its dominance, allowing the artists and surroundings to come to the fore. The stage had a four-story FOH tower with a PA-boom. But that is not all there was to the infrastructure for the historic ceremony. NUSSLI also built video structures, two covered grandstands with transparent roofing material, camera platforms, and grandstands for the press.
Not only did the extremely high demands of the event have to be met, but very strict security measures also needed to be taken into consideration.
