Until recently, the Oberwil BL secondary school lacked the necessary gymnasiums for school sports. NUSSLI built a double gymnasium, which has been in operation since July 2024 and can be used for at least ten years. This gives the municipality time to develop a long-term school sports concept.
The hall was designed to be sustainable and modular, with strip foundations and components that can be completely dismantled and reused after use. The supporting structure made of system components can later be reused for event infrastructure such as grandstands. Crucially, the roof structure is prepared to working height and then hoisted up without a large construction crane, using only small motors. This speeds up the construction process enormously and saves resources. The integrated functional rooms made of wood, including cloakrooms and other sanitary facilities, were produced in-house by RUBA. The wooden modules were prefabricated and could therefore be assembled quickly, accurately, and on schedule at the construction site.
