Storerooms and infrastructural elements at the Schaulager in Basel were being expanded as part of the museum's conversion efforts. As a result, the Schaulager was closed for several months during this time. In order to keep the Schaulager accessible to collectors and art lovers during Art Basel, the museum established a satellite location. NUSSLI constructed a 13-meter-tall pavilion for the exhibition site based on a design by Herzog & de Meuron.
