Sail GP Switzerland, Cologny
Set the stage for one of the fastest sailing races in the world!
For the Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix in Geneva, NUSSLI created a central spectator infrastructure at the event location in Cologny. The focus of the project was the construction of a large temporary grandstand including barrier-free platforms—a crucial part of the event infrastructure for one of the most spectacular sailing races in the world. NUSSLI took on the entire project management, from planning to transport and assembly to dismantling. This enabled thousands of fans to enjoy a comfortable and optimal view of the racing action.
Temporary event structure on Lake Geneva
SailGP combines high speed and precision—not only on the water, but also on land. For the race on Lake Geneva, NUSSLI developed a modular event architecture that could be set up within a few days and completely dismantled again after the event.
The temporary infrastructure was specially designed to meet the requirements of an international sporting event. It combines high spectator capacity with a clear view of the race track for an optimal spectator experience.
The centerpiece of the project was a large grandstand with over 3,000 seats, which was installed along the shore. This created a central viewing area from which fans could watch the race of the futuristic F50 catamarans up close.
Sailing for all visitors
An important part of the event infrastructure was the integration of a barrier-free spectator platform. This enabled guests with limited mobility to comfortably participate in the event.
The platform was equipped with appropriate ramps and secure railing elements and offered a generous area for visitors in wheelchairs and their companions. This ensured that the event was accessible to as many spectators as possible and that all guests could experience the spectacular race from a good vantage point.
An event that brings speed to life
The project exemplifies how modular event structures and precise project management contribute to the implementation of international sporting events within a very short time frame. For NUSSLI, the focus is not only on the construction itself, but also on the visitor experience.
When the catamarans fly across Lake Geneva at top speed, the infrastructure on land ensures that thousands of fans can experience this spectacle together.
Another highlight on the international stage
In addition to the SailGP Switzerland Grand Prix in Cologny, NUSSLI also built the temporary event infrastructure for the Germany Sail Grand Prix in Sassnitz. The company is thus demonstrating its expertise in major international sailing events and in the implementation of complex temporary structures for spectators, teams, and the media.
