Europe vs. the U.S.: At the Solheim Cup, the best female golfers from both teams face off in a head-to-head competition. From September 11 to 13, 2026, the 20th edition of the competition was held in the Netherlands for the first time. The venue was Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt. For the tournament, NUSSLI constructed several grandstand structures along the golf course, creating spectator areas at various points along the course. The temporary structures were concentrated around the first tee and six greens. This allowed fans to watch the matches from different perspectives and follow the players at key points on the course. In addition to the grandstands, the scope of work also included a VIP platform at the first tee.

A large grandstand at the first tee

The first phase included a large grandstand complex with several interconnected sections. The structure comprised a left and a right grandstand wing, corner sections, and a central section. In total, the complex offered 2,614 seats, making it a central spectator area for the tournament. In addition, NUSSLI integrated a DJ platform measuring 7.5 × 2.25 meters and a media platform measuring 10 × 2.25 meters. Areas for people with limited mobility and their companions were also provided. The grandstand complex thus combined traditional spectator seating with spaces for the media and other functions related to tournament operations. The area was complemented by an 88-square-meter VIP platform located within the grandstand at the first tee. This expanded the spectator infrastructure to include a separate area for VIP guests.

Grandstands at six greens

In addition to the first tee, additional temporary grandstands were set up at several greens. The structures were distributed throughout the golf course and offered the audience additional opportunities to watch the matches up close. Depending on the location, different grandstand designs were used, including single- and double-block grandstands. With its various spectator areas, the temporary infrastructure followed the course of the tournament across multiple holes. Fans were able to watch the matches from different spots on the course, bringing them closer to the action. Together with the large grandstand at the first tee, this created a diverse range of spectator seating options.

Experience with temporary structures on golf courses

For NUSSLI, the Solheim Cup in Cromvoirt was not its first assignment at an international golf tournament. Back in 2023, the Spanish NUSSLI team carried out the project for the Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin Various event structures, including grandstands, stages, and support structures for screens. NUSSLI is also involved in other major golf tournaments. These include the Open Golf Madrid and the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana. The range of services extends from grandstands and VIP areas to platforms and media infrastructure.

Temporary event structures on golf courses require careful coordination with the existing course and the tournament’s requirements. The infrastructure must blend into the landscape while also meeting the needs of the audience, the media, and event operations. Setup and takedown also require special care to ensure that the golf course is disrupted as little as possible. With the 2026 Solheim Cup in the Netherlands, NUSSLI applied this expertise to one of the most significant international competitions in women’s golf. The grandstands at the first tee and at several greens formed the foundation of the tournament’s temporary spectator infrastructure.
