As part of renovation measures, the German Mining Museum (DBM) received a band new permanent collection. The designers and architects from "res d" and "krafthaus, the atelier from facts and fiction" have been responsible for the revitalization and remodeling. NUSSLI was awarded the contract for implementing the construction measures for an exhibition section which covered an area of approx. 1,000 square meters.

After an intensive planning period , NUSSLI completed the renovation of the exhibition area at the end of the summer, so that the new permanent collection could be inaugurated in fall 2018.

With the new exhibition, the museum built in 1930 has become a place to take in a wide range of impressive experiences on a variety of levels by simultaneously unifying innovative and traditional modes of presentation.

With the new presentation, the DBM is taking on the challenge of exhibiting its own research content and findings in a manner that is exciting, educational, and informative and appealing to the diverse target groups with various offerings.

The German Mining Museum in Bochum is one of eight German research museums in the Leibniz Association. It researches and informs about the history of how geological resources are extracted, processed, and used across various time periods. The museum's areas of research include: Archaeological metallurgy, history of mining, materials science, mining archaeology, and the documentation center for mining history.
