Men's European Handball Championship 2024, Düsseldorf

On January 10, 2024, the 2024 European Handball Championship started in Düsseldorf and immediately broke the world record for spectators. More than 50,000 fans cheered on the opening games in the MERKUS SPIEL-ARENA, which was equipped with temporary grandstand seats by NÜSSLI.
Within eight days, what is probably the most extraordinary venue of the entire 2024 European Handball Championship was built. The football pitch was removed and the resulting area was covered with slabs. For the handball field, a sprung floor and a handball rubber floor were also laid on the playing surface. The event construction specialist NUSSLI built four stands around this inner field with a total of around 8,700 seats. By adding more space to the existing stadium, NUSSLI ensured a real "witch's cauldron atmosphere" at the European Championship.
