The DATEV Challenge Roth is one of the most prestigious long-distance triathlons in the world and attracts thousands of athletes and fans to Roth every year. After a 3.8-kilometer swim, a 180-kilometer bike ride, and a marathon, the finish line marks the emotional climax of the competition. To ensure this moment is an unforgettable experience for athletes, spectators, and the media alike, NUSSLI has been providing temporary event infrastructure at key competition venues since 1998. From large spectator stands and media platforms to structures along the course, tailor-made solutions are created each year for one of Europe’s most traditional endurance sporting events.
Temporary finish area for the Challenge Roth
The finish line at Challenge Roth is one of the most impressive moments in international triathlon. Thousands of spectators cheer on the athletes during the final meters to the finish line, creating a unique atmosphere. Every year, NUSSLI provides the necessary infrastructure for this event and expands the finish area with spacious temporary spectator facilities. Several standing grandstands with a total of over 3,300 spectator seats, as well as an additional grandstand extension in the finish curve, offer the best views of the race action. The arena is complemented by a VIP and press grandstand, wheelchair-accessible platforms, and platforms for photographers and TV crews. This creates optimal conditions for visitors, the media, and organizers alike.

Solutions for the entire race course
NUSSLI’s services are not limited to the finish area. Every year, temporary structures are also erected at other key locations along the race course to support the event’s operations. At the swim start, NUSSLI constructs, among other things, the podium for the starting gun and stairways to ensure safe access. In the Eckersmühlen area, a covered DJ platform is being built to create an extra festive atmosphere along the course. The infrastructure is complemented by entrance gates, LED towers, FOH systems, and scaffolding structures for the laser show in the finish stadium. The various structures are functionally integrated and help ensure that sports, entertainment, and organization work together seamlessly.
Well-designed event infrastructure for seamless event operations
The Challenge Roth places high demands on the temporary event infrastructure. Large numbers of visitors, international media, and TV productions must be accommodated, as must the flow of athletes and safety requirements. For this reason, all grandstands, podiums, and walkways are precisely coordinated with one another. Media platforms offer optimal camera positions, accessible spectator areas provide all guests with the best view of the action, and the various walkways ensure safe visitor routes throughout the entire competition. The modular system design allows for efficient setup and takedown, as well as flexible adaptation to the requirements of the annual triathlon.
Temporary sports infrastructure from a single source
For more than 25 years, NUSSLI has been a partner of Challenge Roth, making a significant contribution to the successful organization of one of the world’s most famous long-distance triathlons. This long-standing partnership enables the continuous development of the event infrastructure and the efficient fulfillment of the requirements that arise each year. NUSSLI also builds temporary spectator facilities and event structures for other international sporting events—for example, at the BMW Berlin Marathon, at the MXGP of Switzerland or at numerous international tennis and motorsports events.
