Avenches Tattoo
The Avenches Tattoo is one of the most renowned military tattoo events in Europe and is the oldest and most significant festival of its kind in French-speaking Switzerland. Since its founding in 1999, the event has captivated audiences with spectacular musical and choreographed performances by international military and civilian groups. Each year, around 500 musicians from various countries perform, creating a unique experience that blends music, precision, and staging. Since 2000, NUSSLI has been responsible for constructing the temporary spectator infrastructure for the event, thereby making a significant contribution to its success.
Temporary Grandstand for a Major Cultural Event
At the heart of the infrastructure is NUSSLI’s premium grandstand, which seats 3,910 people. It offers visitors an optimal view of the elaborately staged performances by international groups. A large-scale roof structure protects spectators from the elements and ensures a comfortable experience during evening and afternoon performances. The grandstand complex is complemented by a 4.5-meter-high emergency staircase that meets the high safety requirements of a major international event.
Event Architecture for Spectacular Live Shows
The Avenches Tattoo combines music, choreography, and visual staging at the highest level. The temporary grandstand structures must therefore not only accommodate large crowds but also ensure optimal viewing angles of the performance. The modular design of the NUSSLI systems allows for precise adaptation to the event’s requirements and creates a safe and efficient infrastructure for artists, organizers, and the audience. The grandstand complex is erected in about twelve days, while dismantling is completed within a few days after the event ends.
Expertise in Festivals and Cultural Events
With the Avenches Tattoo, NUSSLI is carrying out a project in which the atmosphere of the venue is just as important as the technical and structural infrastructure. NUSSLI has implemented similar projects at, among others, the Jazz Open Stuttgart, at the Vaduz Classic as well as in Songs on Banz There, too, temporary spectator structures are erected that blend into a unique cultural setting while simultaneously meeting the highest standards for safety, comfort, and the visitor experience. The extensive experience gained from these cultural and musical events has been integral to the successful organization of the Avenches Tattoo for over two decades.
