Within eight days, the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA transformed into an extraordinary venue for the Handball Euro 2024. The football pitch was replaced with plates, and special flooring created a perfect handball field. NÜSSLI also constructed four stands with 8,700 seats. The additional temporary seats in the interior allowed a capacity of over 50,000, all sold out well before the start of the Euro. The arena's flexible adaptability ensured optimal visibility and atmosphere. This transformation reflects a trend towards temporary event structures not only for sports events but also for various other occasions. Stadium operators benefit from extended usability and flexible adjustments.
