The new National Athletics Center, a modern sports and meeting center with 15,000 permanent seats, was built on the banks of the Danube for the 2023 IAAF World Athletics Championships. NUSSLI constructed the entire temporary upper tier of the stadium with 25,000 additional seats.

More than just a World Cup venue

The vision: a stadium that meets international requirements while remaining sustainable and can continue to be used sensibly after the event—without becoming a white elephant. NUSSLI played a central role in this: NUSSLI constructed the temporary upper tier of the stadium for the 2023 World Championships in Athletics. This structure was dismantled after the major event. The permanent stadium remained in place with ideal capacity for local use. The solution is considered best practice in sustainable sports facility construction—an example of how major events can be held without oversized infrastructure.
