Solothurn Film Festival, Solothurn
The Solothurn Film Festival is one of Switzerland’s most important cultural events and is regarded as the premier platform for Swiss filmmaking. Every year, filmmakers, media professionals, and film enthusiasts gather in Solothurn to attend premieres, discover the latest productions, and foster dialogue within the film industry. For many years, NUSSLI has supported this time-honored festival by providing temporary event infrastructure and creating the conditions for a high-quality cinematic experience.
A Hub for the Swiss Film Scene
Since its founding, the Solothurn Film Festival has established itself as the premier showcase for Swiss cinema. During the festival, the city transforms into a gathering place for directors, producers, actors, and film fans from all over Switzerland. In addition to film screenings, talks, panel discussions, and meet-and-greets shape the festival program. To ensure these various formats run smoothly, flexible event spaces are needed that can be adapted to specific requirements while offering the highest level of comfort for the audience.
Temporary cinema solutions for two venues
For the Solothurn Film Festival, NUSSLI is constructing temporary audience facilities at two central festival locations. At the Landhaus, a premium grandstand with 524 seats is being built, along with a support structure for the movie screen. At the Reithalle, an additional grandstand with 324 seats complements the festival’s offerings. The modular grandstand systems are individually adapted to the spatial conditions and create high-quality movie theaters. Thanks to the optimal seating arrangement, all visitors enjoy a clear view of the screen and benefit from a pleasant movie-watching experience.
Flexible Infrastructure for a Cultural Festival
Film festivals place different demands on temporary structures than sports or music events. Rather than large audience capacities, the focus is on comfort, visibility, acoustics, and harmonious integration with existing buildings. NUSSLI’s temporary structures make it possible to transform existing venues into professional festival venues within a short period of time. Once the film festival is over, all installations are dismantled without leaving any traces, so that the buildings are immediately available for their original use.
A Long-Standing Partnership for Swiss Culture
The Solothurn Film Festival has been one of NUSSLI’s recurring projects for many years. This ongoing collaboration enables efficient planning and ensures that the temporary infrastructure runs smoothly—from assembly to dismantling. With decades of experience, NUSSLI implements temporary Event Structures for film festivals, cultural events, concerts, conferences, and major international events. The project in Solothurn demonstrates how well-designed infrastructure creates the ideal setting for cultural encounters and helps ensure that audiences and filmmakers can focus entirely on what matters most: the film.
