Red Bull Tandem Splash, Lausanne
A narrow course over the water, tense anticipation in the stands, and a thrilling finale: NUSSLI built the entire temporary event infrastructure to ensure that this special Red Bull Tandem Splash competition format in Lausanne could unfold to its full effect. From the central track with start and finish platforms to the public grandstand, archway, jury, and control buildings, a modular event architecture was created that impressively combined sport and event staging.
The narrow ridge from start to finish
The Red Bull Tandem Splash transformed Lausanne into an extraordinary sports and event location. The focus is on teams of two who complete a course over water on specially designed tandem bikes. The 100-meter track from NUSSLI forms the centerpiece: it connects the start and finish platforms via ramps, curves, and sections of varying widths. Only those who master balance, team coordination, and precise timing will reach the finish line without falling or slowing down—because the course over the water is technically demanding and requires full concentration.
The NUSSLI track ensures safety and stability, while at the same time providing a spectacular competition setting. The audience experiences the excitement and dynamics of each race up close – and can witness the spectacular splash moments at the end firsthand.
Audience and jury up close
NUSSLI built a 30-meter-wide public grandstand with around 938 standing places for the audience. The 25 rows offered clear lines of sight to central sections of the tandem track and the finish area, allowing the competition to be followed without interruption. A striking archway defined the entrance area and structured the flow of visitors. Two stairways leading to the Badi ensured safe and orderly visitor guidance, while an information tower served as a landmark on the grounds.
Parallel to the audience infrastructure, a combined jury platform with integrated control room was created. From this elevated position, scoring, coordination, and control of the competition could be carried out professionally. The modular design of all structures ensured stability, functionality, and optimal visibility for both spectators and the event team.
Construction directly on and in the water
The tandem track for the Red Bull Tandem Splash ran directly over the water—a construction project that was different from the usual. NUSSLI rose to this special challenge with modular construction, precise planning, and many years of expertise in event construction. Thanks to careful implementation, the course was not only technically reliable, but also offered spectacular viewing angles for spectators, making the Red Bull Tandem Splash in Lausanne an unforgettable highlight.
