For the opening celebrations of the European Capital of Culture — Plovdiv in Bulgaria — NUSSLI planned and constructed a 30.5 meters high tower.

The tower, which houses a great deal of lighting, sound, and video equipment, is also located on a bridge, and special structural calculations were necessary. In addition, staircases and passageways were required on the interior.

The opening weekend was held from January 11-13. In addition to Plovdiv, Matera in Southern Italy is also a 2019 European Capital of Culture.
