F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix
In November 2023, Formula 1 returned to Las Vegas for the first time in over 40 years. NUSSLI constructed extensive temporary spectator and hospitality facilities along the famous Strip Circuit and was responsible for the planning, construction, and dismantling of the facilities by 2025. In the start-finish area, five grandstand complexes were built to accommodate a total of approximately 30,000 spectators, as well as an exclusive VIP area for over 5,000 guests. The centerpiece of the project was the main grandstand, located directly across from the paddock building and the pit lane.
Grandstand infrastructure for a spectacular race weekend
The main grandstand could seat approximately 17,800 spectators. The premium grandstand system with comfortable tip-up seats was used. The spectator area was supplemented by four additional grandstands along the track, providing a total of approximately 10,000 additional seats. Here, too, the focus was on a harmonious viewing experience, comfortable seating solutions, and barrier-free access, so that as many visitors as possible could experience the race from different perspectives.
Two-story skybox on a 14-meter-high platform
Behind the main grandstand, NUSSLI constructed an impressive two-story skybox structure on a modular platform 14 meters above the ground. The hospitality complex stretched 250 meters in length and offered approximately 7,500 square meters of exclusive seating areas with a direct view of the racetrack.
Precision in desert conditions
The project’s implementation placed high demands on planning, engineering, and logistics. For the Las Vegas Grand Prix, NUSSLI developed various custom solutions, including specialized railing systems, optimized visitor routing, and a cantilevered balcony design for the multi-story skybox.
The climatic conditions in Nevada also played a key role: extreme temperature fluctuations had to be taken into account during the design phase. In total, more than 2,600 tons of material were transported and installed. The assembly of the entire infrastructure took about twelve weeks, and the subsequent dismantling took six weeks. At times, up to 70 installers, as well as numerous project and engineering teams, were working on the site simultaneously.
International experience in motorsports
With projects at some of the world’s most famous race tracks, NUSSLI is one of the most experienced partners for temporary infrastructure in international motorsports. In addition to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, NUSSLI has built numerous grandstands, hospitality facilities, and event structures for other Formula 1 events around the world in recent years.
These include, among others, the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort with temporary spectator facilities for around 35,000 fans along the North Sea coast, the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring with grandstands, bridges, and event structures along the route, as well as the Formula 1 Mexican Grand Prix, for which NUSSLI has been constructing all temporary grandstand and VIP structures for several years.
