Openair St. Gallen
Since 1977, OpenAir St. Gallen has been one of Switzerland’s most important open-air music festivals, delighting tens of thousands of visitors every year. NUSSLI has been supporting this long-standing festival for many years as a partner for event construction and builds the central stage and event structures annually. From the impressive Sitter Stage to other concert stages, as well as production, VIP, and infrastructure areas, a temporary festival world is created that provides the ideal conditions for live music, technical operations, and festival activities.
Concert stages for international live acts
To ensure that artists such as Hecht and Zara Larsson have the best possible conditions at the OASG, NUSSLI builds the festival’s main concert stages every year. At the heart of the festival is the 52 × 24-meter Sitter Stage with its striking canopy. It is complemented by the 14 × 38-meter Sternen Stage, as well as other stage areas such as the Plaza Stage and the Intro Stage. The various venues provide space for a diverse festival program and allow for simultaneous concerts over several days of the festival. Thanks to their modular design, the stages can be precisely adapted each year to the organizers’ requirements as well as to the technical production needs of international artists.
Comprehensive Event Solutions for Festivals
A music festival of this magnitude requires far more than just high-performance concert stages. To ensure that the production team, artists, media, and audience work together seamlessly, NUSSLI is constructing a wide range of additional event structures. The project includes, among other things, FOH systems for the main stages, camera platforms for media productions, covered wheelchair platforms, material platforms, ramps, and VIP and hospitality areas. In addition, there is infrastructure for sponsors, platforms for bars and food service, production areas, and numerous technical and logistical facilities. This holistic approach is a key factor in the success of international festival productions.
Festival Construction Under Time Pressure
Setting up a music festival begins long before the first concert. As early as mid-May, the NUSSLI team begins assembling the extensive festival infrastructure. Over the course of about six weeks, stages, production areas, spectator platforms, and numerous other temporary structures are erected step by step. All work must be precisely coordinated so that different trades can work in parallel and all technical installations are ready on time. Dismantling begins immediately after the festival. Within a few days, all temporary structures are taken down and the site is restored to its original condition. NUSSLI’s many years of experience in festival construction ensure that even complex projects with tight deadlines are carried out reliably and on schedule.
International Experience in Festival Production
OpenAir St. Gallen is one of the many music and festival projects that NUSSLI carries out each year. The experience gained from international concert productions is continuously incorporated into the further development of event solutions. NUSSLI carries out similar projects at, among other places, the Gurten Festival in Bern, at the Frauenfeld Open Air or at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona. Everywhere, the focus is on customized stage solutions, high-performance event infrastructure, and efficient construction processes. This long-standing expertise makes NUSSLI an experienced partner for event organizers who need temporary Stages and Event Structures for festivals of all sizes.
