Since 2018, NUSSLI has been building the main stage for Moon&Stars in Locarno, supporting one of Switzerland’s most atmospheric open-air festivals. Year after year, a temporary stage infrastructure is erected in the heart of the Piazza Grande that meets the highest technical standards while seamlessly blending into the historic old town. This long-standing partnership underscores NUSSLI’s expertise in constructing festival stages and temporary event structures for international music events.
A Custom-Built Stage for International Live Productions
For the festival, NUSSLI is constructing the entire main stage, including the stage platform, side storage platforms, and the necessary logistics and loading areas. The stage house measures approximately 22 × 16.5 meters, providing ideal conditions for international concert productions. The infrastructure is complemented by a truck gate and other temporary structures, which ensure efficient operations during setup, teardown, and throughout the festival.

Stage designs with virtually unlimited possibilities
The main stage at Moon&Stars demonstrates just how versatile NUSSLI’s modular system is. Every concert and festival production has different requirements in terms of size, shape, technology, and design. That’s why NUSSLI doesn’t develop standardized Stage Solutions, but rather structures that are precisely tailored to the specific event concept. Whether classic festival stages, striking custom structures, multi-story stage setups, or stages with integrated towers, LED screens, and hospitality areas—the modular system design opens up nearly unlimited possibilities. At the same time, stage sets, platforms, side structures, and technical infrastructure can be flexibly combined and adapted to the organizers’ wishes as well as the creative ideas of artists and production companies. This results in a unique stage for every event that optimally combines functionality, safety, and design.
Stage construction in the heart of the historic old town
It is precisely this flexibility that is crucial at the Piazza Grande in Locarno. The Piazza Grande is one of the most impressive event venues in Europe. At the same time, it poses unique challenges for stage construction. The historic buildings, narrow access roads, and limited space require precise planning and perfectly coordinated logistics. During construction, there is sometimes only a few centimeters of clearance between the stage and the surrounding buildings. Thanks to detailed preparation and the experience of the assembly teams, NUSSLI succeeds every year in erecting the main stage safely and on schedule without compromising the character of the historic square.

A recurring project with the highest standards
Moon&Stars is one of NUSSLI’s annual festival projects. Each setup is carried out within tight deadlines and must be precisely coordinated with the festival program. The modular system design enables quick assembly times and a high level of safety, while also providing the flexibility to continuously adapt the infrastructure to new technical requirements and stage productions. The result is a professional festival stage every year that offers optimal conditions for artists, organizers, and visitors.
