FIBA 3x3 European Basketball Championship

From August 22 to 25, the FIBA 3x3 European Basketball Championship on Vienna's Kaiserwiese presented not only top sporting performances, but also an impressive event infrastructure: Europe's largest open-air basketball arena by NÜSSLI.
The 3x3 Arena on the Kaiserwiese demonstrated how innovative and flexible event architecture can be. The NUSSLI team started construction work in mid-August. Europe's largest open-air basketball arena for the FIBA 3x3 European Basketball Championship was built in just a few days, right in front of one of Vienna's most famous landmarks. The arena had space for up to 4,000 spectators and was planned and implemented by the NUSSLI team with the utmost precision and flexibility. The fully equipped arena offered both the athletes and the audience optimal conditions: four stands and 40 seats directly on the playing field for wheelchair users and accompanying persons, the playing field, two warm-up courts, an advertising tower and platforms for lighting and sound technology as well as a DJ. A box tower with 30 eight-seater and six four-seater boxes on two floors gave groups a particularly close-up live experience and the best view of the thrilling matches.
In terms of inclusion, the event went one step further: for the first time, the 3x3 European Wheelchair Basketball Championship was held in the same arena. The entire catering and VIP area was barrier-free, the warm-up courts, the playing field and the wheelchair spaces were accessible via ramps. The event concept thus sent a strong signal for diversity and inclusion in sport.
