TD Garden, Boston
TD Garden in Boston is one of North America’s best-known multipurpose arenas and is home to the Boston Celtics and the Boston Bruins. Every year, numerous sporting events, concerts, and live events take place here. To ensure that events could continue without interruption during the renovation of the existing telescopic grandstands, NUSSLI installed a temporary spectator grandstand inside the arena. The modular solution provided additional seating and integrated seamlessly into the venue’s existing infrastructure. The project serves as a prime example of how temporary grandstand solutions can be deployed flexibly and efficiently even while the venue remains in operation.
Seamless integration into existing stadium infrastructure
For the two-month renovation of the existing telescopic bleachers, NUSSLI installed a temporary spectator grandstand with 240 seats. The structure was designed and built in such a way that regular events could continue without interruption at one of the most famous sports arenas in the United States. Thanks to its modular design, the grandstand could be seamlessly integrated into the existing architecture of TD Garden and completed in a short period of time.
Functional Access for Spectator Areas
A key element of the project was three connecting bridges at the rear of the grandstand complex. They provided a direct connection between the temporary spectator grandstand and the existing permanent seating areas. Integrating these walkways required precise planning and careful coordination with the arena’s existing structures. By linking the temporary and permanent infrastructure, a safe and comfortable access solution was created for visitors. The project demonstrates the potential of modern modular grandstand systems to efficiently address even challenging structural situations.
