In late July, the best volleyball players in the world will battle it out for victory on the SWATCH FIVB Beach Volleyball Tour. A1 is the title sponsor of the popular tournament. In addition to the fun factor, the fierce competition is at the foreground of the largest international Beach Volleyball event in Austria.
The 14th A1 Beach Volleyball Grand Slam will take place in Klagenfurt from July 27th to August 1st, 2010. More than 100,000 sports enthusiasts and prominent figures from politics, economy and culture as well as people there simply to party fill the grandstands of the Grand Slams in Klagenfurt every year. For the 10th time in the tournament's history, NUSSLI is also on board and is constructing the temporary event infrastructure necessary for the hosting of the event. The construction work itself is also a sporting event: In just three weeks, NUSSLI's 17-member crew will install the necessary facilities — the main grandstand with 5,000 seats, a covered VIP grandstand for 1,650 spectators, and the VIP and lake terrace. Press platforms, sponsors' platforms and two video structures will also be erected for the media and sponsors. The grandstand is constructed in a U-shape, which gives the facility the feel of a stadium. The lake platform and the installation of office and toilet containers in the grandstands and press platforms are certainly among the logistical challenges.
The materials required for the temporary event structures weigh 1,400 metric tons and will be delivered with approximately 30 trucks. When the winner of the exciting tournament is determined, all the add-on structures will be dismantled by the 17-member team within only two weeks.
