These fan zones, which are considered the centerpieces of the fan experience, were built by the experienced temporary construction professionals from Roth. The innovative and efficient design of these temporary structures not only ensures comfort and safety for the fans, but also contributes significantly to the unique atmosphere of the tournament.
“We are proud to be making a significant contribution to this year's European Championships,” says Jan Poneß, Head of Event Structures at NUSSLI Germany. “Our fan zones not only allow fans to experience the matches up close, but also to enjoy an unforgettable community experience.”
The official fan zones are located in the ten European Championship venues in Germany and offer the perfect setting for a fan festival with huge LED screens, goal arches, towers, grandstands, and stages. These zones allow supporters to experience the excitement and emotion of the matches together, even if they cannot be in the stadium. The material used is then reused in other forms at various open-air events and sporting events in Europe.
“Setting up the fan zones within the tight time frame presented all team members with huge logistical challenges and is a perfect example of our capabilities. Despite some of the most adverse weather and wind conditions, we were able to meet all the key deadlines,” adds Uli Born on behalf of the entire team that was deployed. “It's wonderful to offer fans the opportunity to experience their teams' matches in a highly emotional environment that offers almost the same atmosphere as in the stadium.”
With the successful opening match, qualification for the round of 16 and the impressive fan zones, the 2024 European Football Championship in Germany has got off to a great start. The tournament weeks promise to deliver exciting matches and unforgettable moments for soccer fans all over the world.
