Innovative roofing and barrier-free access
This year, two covered grandstands were built for the first time, offering a total of over 2,000 seats. The roofing provides protection from the weather and allows the audience an undisturbed theater experience.
Modern infrastructure
Containers were integrated into the grandstands, providing space for the control room and other technical facilities. This modern infrastructure ensures that the performances run smoothly and that the participants and visitors are well looked after.
NUSSLI's proud project manager
Alois Thoma, who built the grandstand for the World Theater as an assembler back in 1992 and is now on site as NUSSLI's project manager, says: “We are delighted and honored to be involved in the construction of the World Theater. It is a unique event and an unforgettable experience for us as well. Seeing all the beaming faces of the actresses, children, extras, and visitors makes us very happy. Even 32 years after my 'premiere,' the project still feels good and right.”
Sustainable dismantling
Immediately after the last performances at the beginning of September, the grandstands and the stage set will be dismantled. NÜSSLI relies on sustainable methods to restore the square to its original state and to minimize environmental impact.
About the World Theater Einsiedeln
The World Theater Einsiedeln is an extraordinary event that brings the community together through the participation of numerous extras and children. Instead of a traditional stage set, the play comes to life through the active participation of the performers, who captivate the audience. The traditional open-air theater is performed every seven years. Its origins go back to 1924, when the play “The Great World Theater” by Pedro Calderón de la Barca was first staged in Einsiedeln. This work, one of the most important Spanish baroque dramas, deals with topics such as the transience of life and divine providence.
